Last Fall I was invited to tour the HGTV Dream Home 2018 in Gig Harbor, WA. The Dream Home featured paint colors from the Quiet Comfort Color Collection from HGTV HOME by Sherwin-Williams. Each Color Collection includes 20 paint colors that are carefully selected by a designer to work together in any combination. The HGTV Dream Home 2018’s interior was painted with these beautiful colors, and each room's color complemented the next. It was amazing to see every color flow so well together, and even the furniture and decor was inspired by the gorgeous shades in the palate. We recently moved into our new home, and I was so excited to rejuvenate our new space using the same harmonious approach with the HGTV HOME by Sherwin-Williams Perfectly Polished Color Collection.
It took us months and months to find our new home, and thankfully we found it right at the perfect time! Colten and I wanted to find a starter home, with a big yard, and plenty of character. Our home is a sweet little cottage-style home built in 1957, with lots of character and updated amenities! We loved everything about it, and couldn’t wait to put our own little touch on the space.
I found out that on average it takes over 100 days from the time someone decides they’d like to paint their home, to completion of the project. Luckily, HGTV HOME by Sherwin-Williams makes it easier. Each Color Collection helps create room-to-room harmony and gives inspiration for not only wall colors, but décor for the entire space.
I love the airy whites, pretty pinks, and grey hues that are part of the Perfectly Polished Color Collection. I chose to go with the color Krypton (HGSW3366) & Pure White (HGSW4006) for the main areas of our home, because I love the clean crispness they bring into the rooms! Krypton is the prettiest blue-ish grey, and really ties into my décor well! The previous colors were a very warm tan/yellow. It wasn’t very inviting, and definitely didn’t flow well with the house. After we painted the main living areas, I was shocked at how much better the whole space looked! It’s crazy what a can of paint can do to the ambiance in a room!
For Marloe & Sorel’s room, we decided to go with a super pretty light pink called Romance (HGSW2067). It is a very feminine pink, but not overwhelming. I seriously almost painted their room all white, but I decided to push myself out of my comfort zone and try something new. I am SO glad that I did, because the girl’s room is now my favorite room in the house. The Color Collection made it easy to mix and match colors throughout my home that I normally would be nervous to try.
We are still working on painting and renovating the rest of the rooms in our house. My next paint project will be our guest bathroom! I plan on painting the small space dark grey with a wallpaper accent wall. I will be using Sensuous Gray (HGSW3383), which of course, is also from the Perfectly Polished Color Collection.
It’s honestly crazy how much updating paint in a room can really make the space come alive again! I have been having the best time picking out paint, and painting each room with Colten. We take our paint swatches to decoration stores and pick out pieces inspired by the colors. We are excited to work on the rest of the house, and see how the space becomes our own!
