It seems like just yesterday that it happened..a day that I had been hoping to put off for as long as possible came in the blink of an eye. My little baby girl, who was supposed to never grow, decided that it was time to branch out and explore the world of crawling. She crawled everywhere, and began touching and grabbing everything. There I was trying to quickly (and frantically) baby proof everything!
My little girl is now a running, jumping, dancing, and wild toddler who still (no matter how many times I tell her not to) puts her little fingers into every power outlet she can. Baby proofing, isn't just for those early mobile stages, but also to keep your toddlers and kiddos safe as well.
Baby proofing is a MUST. Its our jobs as parents to make sure our babies are safe, but we can constantly watch their every move...and lets face it...THEY MOVE SO FAST. September is Baby Safety Month, and today I am teaming up with Safety 1st the leading brand in child safety to share my baby proofing tips & must haves!
1-PLUG YOUR OUTLETS:
Not sure why babies are just drawn to putting their little fingers, toys, and anything into power outlets....but THEY ARE....so plug every single one in sight!!! These plugs are easily removeable, and you will feel much better about your little baby exploring around knowing they can't put sharp or harmful objects into the outlets.
2-GET A BABY GATE:
We have two baby gates, one blocking the stairs, and one that we can move around from room to room. Baby gates are super necessary especially if you have stairs! Babies love to crawl and climb, so you definitely need to block your stairs!!! According to Medical Daily, a tot goes to the ER every 6 minutes for stair related injuries! Thats scary!!! We have this gate that we move around, and this one that stays put!
3-SECURE YOUR OFF LIMIT CABINETS/DRAWERS:
If medicine, cleaning supply, or off limit cabinets/drawers are reachable by little hands then its best you secure them with safety latches! I have a bunch of these all over our kitchen and bathroom. They're discreet, and I feel much safer having Marloe explore around knowing she can't get into anything harmful.
4-BABY PROOF YOUR DOORS:
Babies/kids LOVE opening/closing/slamming doors. My friends daughter broke her fingers by shutting them in the door, and ending up having to get surgery. Thats why its so important to install pinch guards on doors. Pinch guards aren't something people usually think about, but they are definitely a must!
