Even after you carry a baby in your belly for 9 months, it doesn’t stop there. As a new mom you’ll find yourself carrying your newborn ALL THE TIME. Without having your arms free, it can feel overwhelming when it seems like you can’t get anything done. When that happens......you strap on your Ergobaby carrier and take on the day like a boss!

When my first Marloe was born, I realized how important having a baby carrier was. Marloe constantly wanted to be held, and some days the only way she would fall asleep was by being rocked while in the baby carrier. I was able to do household chores, run errands, and exercise all while she was safely strapped in our Ergobaby carrier!

I teamed up with Ergobaby to try out their Ergobaby Omni 360 Cool Air Mesh baby carrier and share how I am able to get out and enjoy the springtime weather with my 2 year old and 1 month old! Having a new baby comes with its challenges, but add a hyper toddler to the mix....and you've got a whole new set of challenges to work with. I struggle to entertain Marloe (my 2 year old), when we are stuck inside all day. I find that she is much nicer, sleeps better, and is overall a happier kid when I make time to get her out of the house to play. Being able to strap Sorel (my 1 month old) into my Ergobaby Omni 360 Cool Air Mesh baby carrier, makes it easier to go places with Marloe and even allows me to be more hands on!

The carrier is lightweight, and is made from mesh so it  is cool and breathable even on the hottest of Spring days! Sorel is so comfortable that she almost instantly falls asleep moments after she is strapped. It truly makes getting outside and playing with Marloe much easier and more enjoyable for the both of us. I know that summer is upon us, but before the weather gets too hot, and the Summer activities get too crazy...I made a list of things I want to do with my family this Spring with our Ergobaby Omni 360 Cool Air Mesh baby carrier!

No matter how well your baby sleeps day or night, every new parent with a baby video monitor knows how nice it feels to stare at that tiny screen in search of any sign of movement. Video monitors give such peace of mind when you’re not in the same room as your sleeping baby.

When my first daughter Marloe was born, I remember not getting ANY sleep. Being a new parent is hard, and you truly don't know what to expect until you go through it. I remember finally falling asleep some nights to frantically waking up to check on the baby....for NO reason. I wanted to make sure she was breathing, and felt such relief when I saw she was still peacefully asleep. I didn't have a baby monitor back then, and didn't know what I was missing!

With my second baby just being born, I was MUCH more prepared. I searched the web looking at awesome baby monitors, and found one that would work best for our family--the Nanit Sleep System Video Monitor! I had my husband easily install it before she was born, and have been using it for Sorel since she was born. It's seriously been such a game changer! I feel much more at ease leaving the room when she is sleeping, and don't feel the need to check on her every couple minutes. We have the camera that mounts to the wall (which I LOVE), but you can also get a camera connected to a floor stand for easy transport.

The Nanit Sleep System monitor connects to your phone through the Nanit app. It makes viewing and checking in on your sleeping baby easy--and even allows you to hear your baby when your phone screen is turned off!!!! The camera also features a soft glow night light, that is dim enough that it won't wake up your baby. I have used it many times when I am putting back Sorel's pacifier during nap time & don't want to wake her by turing on the bright room light. You can also purchase Nanit Insights to easily access video history & sleeping data.

New parents know how tough it can be bringing a baby into the world. Make it easier with the help from  Nanit Sleep System monitor! You will get more sleep knowing that your Nanit monitor is watching over your baby.

Having our second baby girl has made us reminisce & look back on photos of when Marloe (our first daughter) was born. We are always comparing photos of the two girls to see similarities & differences. I recently stumbled upon some photos from last spring of Marloe. In the photo we were out at the park, and her skin was very irritated from all the pollen in the air. Marloe has pretty sensitive skin and seems to always get some sort of rash or irritation when spring is in full force. I keep wondering if Sorel (our newborn) will have the same seasonal irritations that her sister Marloe did, as we venture outdoors this spring.

After months and months of cold rainy weather here in Seattle, spring brings many new outdoor activities as the weather warms up. We are able to play and explore outside a lot more. My kiddos will start wearing sunscreen & bug spray and interacting with grass, dirt, pollen, sand and everything that comes with living in Washington. Not only are we outside a lot more in the warmer months, but all that outdoor playing means bathing more than usual...and that alone can irritate sensitive skin.

For some reason I remember to lotion up more in the winter because winter is so dry and cold...but summer can be just as dry, especially with all of our outdoor activities. I also sometimes forget how good it feels for me to put on lotion after a day of swimming and it probably feels just as good and soothing for those lil babies!

One brand I have always trusted and used to help protect my skin is Dove. I have used their soap & lotion for many, many years and still do every day! I’m so glad there is also Baby Dove, with an array of products to help nourish and clean little ones’ sensitive skin. When they first launched their products in stores, I scooped them up right away and have been obsessed ever since! I’m happy I started using Baby Dove on Marloe so I can use it on Sorel as well!! Finding the right products for your babies’ skin is so important and helps take the stress off of worrying about their skin. Baby Dove will be a staple in our home for the rest of our kids as well.

I know everyone parents differently, but one thing we should all be focusing on as parents...is using products that are safe and effective for our kiddos, and there is a superior way to care for their skin. Baby Dove cleansers and lotions are made with 100% skin-natural nutrients for that delicate baby skin. It’s perfect for those first 3 years of life when their little bodies are exposed to so many new things. I found that with Marloe, she seemed to get the most irritated after bath time. I switched cleansers many times, and never found something that actually helped replenish her skin, rather than strip it of moisture...until I found Baby Dove. During a single bath, baby’s skin can lose moisture up to five times faster than an adult’s, making it vulnerable to dryness. We moisturize Marloe & Sorel's skin with Baby Dove Sensitive Moisture Baby Lotion to help lock in the moisture lost at bath time! I love & use all of the products from the Sensitive Moisture range on my 2-year-old and newborn baby. I’ve included some specific product info for you moms/dads with additional questions below!!

Sensitive Moisture Tip to Toe Wash

  • Made with 100% skin-natural nutrients combined with gentle cleansers to minimize damage and replenish moisture to keep delicate baby skin nourished and healthy
  • Goes beyond mildness to help replenish the essential moisture and nutrients of the skin lost through bathing
  • Rich and creamy lather that leaves skin feeling clean and soft
  • Hypoallergenic and tear-free formula
  • Fragrance-free for sensitive baby skin

I can’t use any fruity scented bubble bath or body wash on Marloe without her skin breaking out in a rash. That’s why I love Baby Dove Sensitive Moisture Tip to Toe Wash, because its fragrance-free, yet replenishes her skin so it is soft & clean!

Sensitive Moisture Baby Lotion

  • Gently moisturizes baby’s skin all day
  • Made with 100% skin-natural nutrients and gentle moisturizers for 24 hours of moisture
  • Soothes dry skin from first use
  • Fragrance-free for sensitive baby skin

I absolutely LOVE this Baby Dove Sensitive Moisture Baby Lotion for both Marloe and Sorel. We give Marloe baths every other night (sometimes more, it depends on the day) & we use this to moisturize her skin after. I have only bathed Sorel a few times because she is only a few weeks old, but I already use and trust this moisturizer on her delicate newborn skin after baths.

Sensitive Moisture Baby Wipes

  • Gentle cleansing with instant moisturization for all over use
  • Effectively remove impurities while instantly moisturizing baby’s delicate skin
  • As gentle as water

I keep a pack of the Baby Dove Sensitive Moisture Baby Wipes in my diaper bag, because they’re perfect for use on Sorel (our newborn) when we are out & about!

This post is sponsored by Stonyfield® Organic Kids® Yogurt

It’s Earth Month, and in honor of Earth Day I am partnering with Stonyfield® Organic Kids® Yogurt multipacks to share why we love them for a healthy springtime snack! As your toddler grows older, it can get pretty difficult to keep them on track and eating healthy foods on a daily basis. I love having Stonyfield® Organic Kids® Yogurt multipacks on hand in our fridge, because they make for a much more wholesome snack! I have definitely been guilty of grabbing processed packaged food to give Marloe for a quick snack, or when we are on the go...but I have made it a goal to give her healthier options like Stonyfield Organic Kids Yogurt!!!

Marloe loves eating her Stonyfield Organic Kids Yogurt, and I love that they recently completed a sugar reduction across its Stonyfield® Organic Kids® portfolio, featuring between 25% - 40% less sugar than the leading kids’ yogurt. They also have been around for 35 years as a trusted organic yogurt!! Not only do we buy the multipacks but also the on-the-go pouches! They make for an easy car snack, and I will throw them in my car or diaper bag to give to Marloe while we're out running errands.

Now that the rain has settled down here a bit in Seattle, we are able to visit our favorite parks a lot more and get outside to enjoy the beautiful weather! We have already participated in some fun Earth Day activities, like cleaning up trash from our local park, and planting flowers at the cemetery! We bring our Stonyfield Organic Kids Yogurt along to enjoy a yummy wholesome snack while we volunteer. I bring some berries & granola to mix in with her yogurt, and Marloe LOVES it!!! We sometimes add in coconut flakes, or honey to change it up a bit.  Also did you know? Stonyfield® Organic Kids® Yogurt multipacks are made from plants?! Their cups made from plants have a lower carbon footprint and are much better for the environment than petroleum based cups. Celebrate Earth Month and snack on the only kids yogurt that comes in plant-based cups!!

We can all do our part to protect & celebrate Earth Day!!! Get out and enjoy some Earth Day activities while bringing some Stonyfield® Organic Kids® Yogurt long with you!

PROPOSAL STORY - JEWELERS MUTUAL INSURANCE

First comes love and then comes marriage, but in between is something very important. The proposal! Looking back on that special moment, a lot of the small details have started to fade but I still vividly remember the way I felt that day...and that’s something that will stick with me forever. Today I’ve partnered with Jewelers Mutual Insurance Group to share that amazing day with you!!

Colten and I had dated for almost two years. Those years were spent being with each other every chance we got. We loved adventuring outdoors, traveling to new places, and spending time with friends and family. We knew early on in our relationship that we wanted to get married, Colten was my very best friend and I saw our future in his eyes.

A few months before we got engaged, Colten had randomly suggested we go look at custom ring designs with a jeweler. I was over the moon excited to hear him suggest anything ring related, and we quickly set up a time to go take a look. I remember feeling so happy flipping through the pages of all the different ring designs, and talking with the jeweler about what kind of ring I saw myself wearing. Everything about that day was amazing...but then days and weeks went by without any proposal or further talk about it. I was confused. I thought that maybe Colten had changed his mind, or that the ring I designed was out of his budget.

Now a few months had gone by, and I had decided not to worry about the proposal anymore. I was super happy with our relationship, and felt like it would happen when he was ready. Around this time, Colten had a weekend work trip in Kansas. I was helping him pack for the trip, and he was telling me about how busy his week was going to be in Kansas. I was sad he was leaving for work, because there just so happened to be a big neighborhood/city party happening at the park across the street from my parents house. We had gone to the party the year before and had the best time together, so I was upset he wouldn’t be there this time.

He left to the airport and I started getting ready for the festivities. My dad is a videographer & was asked by one of the party coordinators if he could take a video of the mayor coming in on a helicopter at the park. My dad asked if i would come help him out, and I quickly agreed! We got all our  camera gear ready and walked over to the park. I could see the helicopter in the distance, and noticed my family started walking over to the park from my parents house. I figured they wanted to get a closer look at the helicopter, and I started waving for them to come over to us.

The helicopter was about 15 feet away from us, as it landed on the parks grass fields. I had one of my dads cameras up against my face, and I started snapping pictures like crazy. I watched as the helicopter propellers stopped spinning and a handsome man came out the side door of the helicopter....it was COLTEN! I got a pit in my stomach, and immediately knew that something was up! I put the camera down, and he began to run up to me. I started shaking as he knelt down on one knee. At the same time I noticed his family (who lived in WA at the time) started running up to us on the grass field.

As he knelt on one knee, I could hear so much excitement and nervousness in his voice. He told me how much I meant to him and that he wanted to spend his life with me. Then he asked if I would marry him!!! I quickly said yes, and cried as he put the ring I had designed (all those month ago) on my finger. My family all cheered and hugged us, I couldn’t believe how happy I felt in that moment. I had dreamed of this day ever since I fell in love with Colten.

After a few moments, he said he had another surprise. ANOTHER surprise?? What could it possibly be?? He grabbed my hand and led me to the helicopter that was waiting in the distance. He told me we were going to go on a ride over the valley together to really celebrate this joyous moment. I was beyond thrilled, because it was my first time in a helicopter, and something I had wanted to do for years. We hopped in and watched the world beneath us get further and further away. Everything was so green and beautiful, and the mountains that were usually so massive seemed small so high up. It was such a beautiful and memorable moment that we got to share together. And a day I will always cherish. ♥️

After getting married, we have moved three times, lived in 3 different states, and have had 2 sweet daughters! Life can get crazy hectic, and sometimes I am not as organized as I would like to be. Which means misplacing and losing things all the time! Whether it’s me putting something in a different spot, or my toddler daughter carrying things off and hiding them....I feel like we are always on the hunt for things around our home! One thing that I cherish so much, and never want to lose (also because it’s pricy) is my engagement ring. I love the design I chose, and that ring on my finger reminds me of the start of Colten and I’s love story & all of the memories that go with it.

We recently have been looking into protecting my ring with a policy from Jewelers Mutual Insurance group! They have some amazing policies and you can apply for a quick & easy quote online. With my first pregnancy I had NO clue what to really pack in my hospital bag. I looked on Pinterest and blogs for advice, and packed up my hospital bag according to what they suggested. I felt pretty confident with everything I had, but after experiencing child birth & the hospital stay for myself....I realized I forgot a lot of things, and also packed a lot of useless things. So I put together a list of what you really need! Of course every person is so different, so you may want to add or disregard some of the things on my list for whatever best suits YOU! :)

FOR MAMA:

2-3 NURSING BRAS: My favorites are linked below.

2-3 YOGA/SWEAT PANTS: Don't plan on wearing or leaving the hospital in anything other than comfy pants....your poor V will be loaded up with pads & you won't want anything too tight on down there. (Even if you have a C-section you'll want some comfy pants that wont hurt your stitches!)

2-3 COMFY SHIRTS/SWEATSHIRTS: These are for wearing around the hospital if you don't wanna wear a robe, & a shirt/sweatshirt to wear on your drive home.

ROBE: Robes are perfect for your stay at the hospital. Easy access for the nurses & doctor to check you down there* and for you to whip your boob out to nurse!

SLIPPERS: I definitely recommend slippers for walking around the hospital or to and fro your bathroom. I actually just brought my UGG boots last time, and even just wore them home!

2-3 UNDIES: I recommend buying cheaper/dark colored underwear (NO THONGS/CHEEKY UNDIES--OUCH!!!!!!) that you don't care if they get ruined. Believe me....you will not want to wear these undies again, because they can get pretty soiled.

TOILETRIES: Toothbrush, makeup, hair ties, dry shampoo, hair brush, breast pads, etc. You won't need to bring pads or anything for the 'healing' process. The hospital has all of that stuff for you, and they let you take it home with you.

MISC ITEMS: Snacks, (hard candies are perfect to pack because you can usually eat them before labor!) Phone Charger, iPad, Camera, Insurance card, License, etc.

FOR BABY:

CAR SEAT: Can't leave the hospital without one! We love our Nuna carseat linked below!

GOING HOME OUTFIT: This outfit usually is a PJ set with socks & a hat!

1-2 BABY GOWNS/ONESIES: Baby's have blowouts & you never can have enough change of clothes!

1-2 SWADDLE BLANKETS: The hospital usually supplies 1 blanket that you can keep, but its always good to bring more!

DIAPER BAG: Keep all of babies things in the diaper bag, along with all the items the hospital gives you to take home for baby! PS. The hospital usually supplies diapers and wipes for you!

MISC ITEMS: Nursing Pillow, sleep sack, pacifiers, mittens, etc.

FOR DAD:

TOILETRIES: Toothbrush, floss, etc! You'll want it especially if you plan on staying overnight at the hospital!

SNACKS: Definitely a must for you to bring your favorite snacks!!!!

1-2 COMFY OUTFITS: Comfort is key when you're at the hospital, and snuggling a newborn all day!

VENDING MACHINE $$: Ideal to have some cash with you, especially if you ate all or snacks or didn't bring any!!!

MISC ITEMS: Laptop, iPad, phone charger, card games, license, pillow from home, etc.

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Carter's. The opinions and text are all mine. I truly believe in every product/company I feature, and appreciate your support*

I can not believe that we just have 9 weeks or less having Marloe be our only baby! I’m truly trying to soak in these last months with just her and I. I know things will change a lot when we add another baby into the mix, and I probably won’t get nearly as much one on one time with her....thinking about that makes me so sad! But I am really cherishing every moment we have together!

Marloe is such a funny girl. She rolls out of bed in the morning yelling “Toys! Toys!”, as she pulls open her toy drawer—grabbing everything in sight! I love just watching her sit in her room playing with different characters, and talking for each of them using her imagination. I could watch her do this for hours, it’s sooo entertaining and cute to me!

Another thing Marloe loves is leaving the house, and going “buh bye”. (Totally my daughter) She begs to get in the car, and loves running errands with me! I love having a little buddy to do stuff with, and although she can make the simplest errand so much harder—it’s so worth it having her come along.

Being a mom truly is one of my favorite things, and a role I don’t take lightly! I want to make sure my kiddos are happy, healthy, and loving human beings. I try to make sure I feed Marloe wholesome food, and use non-toxic home products, and even dress her in organic clothing.

Did you know Carters recently launched a new Organic collection of clothing this month? It's their NEW limited edition collection Called 'Little Planet' made of 100% organic cotton, using fun prints & designs. Marloe's dinosaur jammies here are from Carters Little Planet, and not only are adorable, but also super soft and don't irritate her sensitive skin.

Little Planet apparel has sizes newborn to 5T---which rocks!! I stocked up on some organic onesies, pjs, and outfits for Marloe and our baby due in a few months. I have alway loved and shopped at Carters, so I was super excited to hear about their Little Planet organic apparel...and immediately told all my friends! The best part is, the clothing is affordable and available online and they can even ship your order for easy (& free) pickup in your local store!! HOO-RAY!

I love their selection of organic basics, pajamas, and outfit sets! I shared some of my favorite pieces below! ENJOY!

With the Holidays over, everyone seems to be all ready and excited for Summer...but not me! I’m loving the Winter, and trying to enjoy soaking up the last few months of cold cozy temperatures & snow!

I grew up in Utah, so I am very used to super snowy and cold Winters. Colten and I met and got married in Utah, and we spent so many Winters up in Park City at his good friends cabin while we dated. We made so many memories there together, and had so much fun in the snowy mountains. Although I loved the snow, I never spent a ton of time outside actually playing in it & once we got married and moved to Albuquerque....we RARELY, if ever, saw snow.

Now that we live in Seattle, we get hit with snow every now and then in the Winter months, but just 45 minutes away is the snowiest prettiest place ever....Snoqualmie, WA. We took a drive there on New Years Eve, and had a serious blast playing and tubing through the snow capped trees. It made me realize that Marloe and I had TERRIBLE snow gear, and I quickly went online and stocked up on some good quality products....because we plan on going up there a lot more often. If you are looking for some great snow gear, I shared some of mine and my husbands favorited below! I ordered this Roxy snow suit for myself & this Alex&Alexa one for Marloe for the next time we head up to the mountains.

Photos by Sara Dear Photography*

I cannot believe that this year is almost over!! It’s been such a crazy year, and I feel like it went by way too quickly. I haven’t shared a family update for a while, so I thought today would be the perfect time to do one while I share some family photos we recently took.

It’s been a little over 3 months since we moved from Albuquerque to Seattle. We had known for a while, when we lived in ABQ, that we would eventually be moving to Seattle...we just had no idea when! So when we got a call that we needed to move in 3 weeks, it all happened so darn fast.

We planned on buying a home in WA, we were so tired of renting and we felt like Seattle would be home for a while so it seemed right to buy our first home here. Since we moved so quickly we didn’t have enough time to do a home search so we have been living with a family member here for the past 3 months. With Colten’s job, he literally has been working all day everyday, so we seriously have zero time together to go out looking for homes! We still are on the search, but nothing has felt right & the prices for homes here are outrageous for crappy houses. If we don’t find a home before the baby arrives, then we will probably get back into a rental until we finally find something!

If anyone has any advice on first time home buying, please share it on my IG or in the comments here....we could use all the help!!!

Besides all the home craziness, life has been pretty dang amazing. I’ve been crazy busy (in a good way) with my blog, Colten’s work is doing awesome, and both our babies are healthy!!! Colten has been at work so much lately, that we have had no time to get together for family photos....but finally earlier this week we had a moment together & we took advantage of it to get some family pics done!

It was soo nice to be able to get some pictures of our family, and get out some Christmas cards in time. We found the prettiest Christmas tree farm not to far from our house for the photos, and it just so happened to be the nicest Seattle weather ever that day! No rain, Woohoo! We brought a long Chooiee too, because he is a big part of our little family...and the photos wouldn’t be complete without him.

I ordered mine and Colten’s outfits off of ASOS, and I’ll share the details in this post. But Marloe’s outfit is from a cute little online shop called The Borrowed Boutique. The Borrowed Boutique is every mom, dad’s, and photographers dream when it comes to dressing kiddos up for special occasions and photo shoots. Ever buy your child an expensive fancy outfit for their Birthday or Christmas photos, and they end up wearing it ONCE after you spent a fortune??? Well Emma, The creator and force behind TBB, came up with the idea when she was spending a fortune on fancy clothes for her daughter. Her husband gave her the idea to start a rental business for kids clothes...and the business was born! Read all about her here.

Marloe’s outfit here is SO CUTE. The Borrowed Boutique has so many stylish choices to pick from, and they make shipping and returning so so easy. I definitely plan on using them for every family photo shoot, and anytime I want Marloe to wear something fancy for a special occasion. Learn more, and check out their amazing style selections HERE.

-Holiday Gift Guide in Partnership with Baby Einstein-

I feel like it was just yesterday that Marloe was born! Its crazy to think that in just a few days my little baby girl will be two years old! Time surely does fly. I find myself more often savoring little moments we have together, because time passes by so quickly. I also have been reminiscing on photos and memories of Marloe as a tiny baby, the closer I get to bringing home our second bundle of joy!

I had a lot of help from people during my pregnancy with Marloe. So many people offered advice on what I would need for those first days, weeks, and months home with our new baby. A baby doesn't really need much those first couple months, except warm clothes/blankets, diapers, and MILK. They definitely require more when they start getting aware of their surroundings, and a little more curious and alert during the day. I felt like it truly happened overnight. One day I was folding laundry and had a hanger on my bed, when Marloe started reaching for it like crazy to play with. She was probably just 4 months old, and from then on she was ready to play! I had ZERO idea what to get her, and felt lost walking through the baby isles at the store. I didn't want to waste money on things she wouldn't use or like, but how was I supposed to know what she would like??? She couldn't talk or tell me! I looked online and texted some family members for recommendations! I bought a wide variety of things for her, and we went from there!!

Now that that is all behind me, and I see what worked for us, I decided to put together a little Holiday Gift guide for babies first year! If you're a parent looking for some gifts to get your little one, or a friend/family member trying to decide what to buy a little baby for the Holidays....then I got you covered with some of mine (and Marloes) favorite things! I saved or bought a lot of these for our next arrival coming in March, and recommend them to family and friends whenever they ask!

I feature lots of Baby Einstein products on my guide, because they are perfect for 0-6 and beyond! Marloe still really enjoys playing with her Baby Einstein Take ALong tunes, and likes to pretend its her cellphone lol! Also I love her Baby Einstein Musical Octoplush toy, because it has helped her learn her colors!!!

MY OUTFIT: DRESS/IsabellaOliverMaternity//JACKET(old)SimilarHere//BOOTS/MattBernson

MARLOE'S OUTFIT: DRESS/NordstromRack//Jacket/JessicaSimpson

It can be so hard finding good quality outerwear for your whole family. Now that the weather here in Seattle has turned into a cold gloomy rainy mist, we cannot leave the house without a warm jacket for all of us!

I rounded up some great jackets for everyone in your fam, most of these are under $100, and super good quality brands that I trust! Once you have a good jacket, then you are covered all Winter long & can use it for years and years.

I am obsessed with plaid every Fall/Winter, and anytime I find a great deal on a plaid coat...I immediately snag it! I also love coats in every color to go with every outfit in my closet. Staying warm, comfortable, AND stylish is the best!

Days with a toddler are exhausting, unpredictable, and of course so much fun. Marloe is my little buddy, and I love planning my days around & with her. I decided to share my daily routine with a toddler, because I personally love learning about how other mama's spend their days, and I thought maybe you would too! :) Also, throw 2-3 tantrums somewhere in the mix while you’re reading the below. Some days we get by with just 1 or 2….other days feel like the whole day is ONE BIG TANTRUM.

MORNINGS ARE MY FAVORITE.

We wake up, and spend some time in bed laughing, and cuddling, and just being silly. I make an effort to not look at my phone in bed during this time. Instead it's just one on one time with her and I, before we get out of bed. Once we're up, I instantly make my bed (usually the only tidying up I do all day lol), and she usually wanders off to her room to play with toys. I clean her room daily, and it always looks the same-toys everywhere, clothes thrown out of drawers, etc…haha. Once my bed is made, I change her diaper, and we take our vitamins! I bought her a little container of kids Gummy Vitamins, and she eats her vitamins while I take my prenatal vitamin! We then head to the kitchen and eat breakfast! I either have oatmeal, yogurt & granola, or I'll make protein pancakes! I make Marloe a nice wholesome breakfast, and she either eats none of it, or all of it. It’s always a gamble, and either way she asks for snacks 30 minutes after breakfast! After we clean up breakfast, I get ready in workout gear, and I dress her in warm clothes for our morning jog. If its rainy, Ill skip the jog outside and go to the gym! I get in a morning workout (without one I am a monster...its my "me time"), and then head to Starbucks to get my caffeine fix, aka. Strawberry Acai Refresher. YUM. I am obsessed. <-----That part of my routine never changes.

AFTERNOON SNOOZE

I try to run most of my errands in the morning before lunch and nap time. After we eat lunch, its nap time for Marloe. She usually goes down pretty easily, I put her in my bed, and snuggle her while we watch a movie or show....within a few minutes she is OUT. I haven't yet trained her to sleep in her own bed, or room.....currently working on that, BUT I JUST LOVE SNUGGLING HER. Once she is fast asleep I get to work on my computer! I plan all my work during her nap time! Its truly the only undistracted time I have, so I take full use of it! I blog, post on IG, or plan my weeks of photoshoots. Marloe naps for 1-2 hours, so I work my pants off until she is up! When she wakes up, I try to do some activities together....like reading books, coloring, or taking her to the park! Sometimes we go visit grandma, or her cousins! :) We also love visiting daddy at work, and prepping for dinner together! She is a great little 'helper' in the kitchen, and loves stirring, and playing around with the ingredients.

BEDTIME

Once Colten gets home, and we have eaten dinner, we spend some time together watching movies, and talking about our days. We then put Marloe in the bath, and each get ready for bed ourselves. Night time is when I write to-do lists for the following day, and make notes on everything I need to get done. I put Marloe down for bed, and Colten and I turn on our show! (Right now we are RE-watching Parks and Rec for the tenth time lol).

WE ARE OUT BY 10 PM. Sometimes 9, because being a parent is hard!!!!

You truly can never have enough baby blankets and swaddles. I am constantly washing mine, because Marloe love's taking her blankets everywhere!!! I love swaddles with breathable fabric, and soft material that Marloe can snuggle with to fall asleep.

I am sharing one of my favorite Baby/Toddler blankets with you all today from Baby K-tan!!! I am featuring their award-winning Baby K'tan's newborn swaddle & toddler blanket I recently purchased their two-pack All-Natural Cotton Mesh Breathable blankets, after reading the Amazon reviews. After getting them, I washed them in baby detergent, and let Marloe have one to snuggle for nap time. SHE LOVED IT. I feel good knowing that the cotton mesh it is made out of is safe and breathable against her skin.

Since it came in a two pack, I plan on saving the other matching blanket for our next baby that is due next March. Marloe and her sibling will have matching blankets, and she can cuddle her's to sleep, while her sibling is swaddled in theirs.

Baby K'tan's newborn swaddle & toddler blanket  is such a great gift idea for an expecting mama, or any mama with small kiddos! I plan on purchasing more for my pregnant friends & family. Head on over to Amazon & add it to your shopping cart today!!!!

It seems like just yesterday that it happened..a day that I had been hoping to put off for as long as possible came in the blink of an eye.  My little baby girl, who was supposed to never grow, decided that it was time to branch out and explore the world of crawling. She crawled everywhere, and began touching and grabbing everything. There I was trying to quickly (and frantically) baby proof everything!

My little girl is now a running, jumping, dancing, and wild toddler who still (no matter how many times I tell her not to) puts her little fingers into every power outlet she can. Baby proofing, isn't just for those early mobile stages, but also to keep your toddlers and kiddos safe as well.

Baby proofing is a MUST. Its our jobs as parents to make sure our babies are safe, but we can constantly watch their every move...and lets face it...THEY MOVE SO FAST. September is Baby Safety Month, and today I am teaming up with Safety 1st the leading brand in child safety to share my baby proofing tips & must haves!

1-PLUG YOUR OUTLETS:

Not sure why babies are just drawn to putting their little fingers, toys, and anything into power outlets....but THEY ARE....so plug every single one in sight!!! These plugs are easily removeable, and you will feel much better about your little baby exploring around knowing they can't put sharp or harmful objects into the outlets.

2-GET A BABY GATE:

We have two baby gates, one blocking the stairs, and one that we can move around from room to room. Baby gates are super necessary especially if you have stairs! Babies love to crawl and climb, so you definitely need to block your stairs!!! According to Medical Daily, a tot goes to the ER every 6 minutes for stair related injuries! Thats scary!!! We have this gate that we move around, and this one that stays put!

3-SECURE YOUR OFF LIMIT CABINETS/DRAWERS:

If medicine, cleaning supply, or off limit cabinets/drawers are reachable by little hands then its best you secure them with safety latches! I have a bunch of these all over our kitchen and bathroom. They're discreet, and I feel much safer having Marloe explore around knowing she can't get into anything harmful.

4-BABY PROOF YOUR DOORS:

Babies/kids LOVE opening/closing/slamming doors. My friends daughter broke her fingers by shutting them in the door, and ending up having to get surgery. Thats why its so important to install pinch guards on doors. Pinch guards aren't something people usually think about, but they are definitely a must!

4 Reasons I Love Having a Girl

Ciera Dastrup

IMG_4911.JPG

When I was pregnant with Marloe and found out I was having a girl I was soooo excited.
I went to Nordstrom with Colten and went through all the baby girl clothes and accessories for hours....and bought a whole lot. Being a mom to a girl is soooo fun, and I am sharing 4 reasons why I love having a little GIRL.

1-HAIR!
The day Marloe was born I put the sweetest tiny headband on her head. I couldn't wait for the day she had enough hair that I could braid & curl it! Marloe has lots of hair now, and it's so wild! She wakes up with the most tangled hair that I need all the help I can get. That's why I started using So Cozy hair products. The sensitive hair wash is perfect for her fine blonde hair, and the detangling spray works wonders when her hair is a tangled mess. Pick some up at Target or online!

2-CLOTHES!
There are just so many cute little girl clothes! Maybe it's because I don't have a boy yet, so I don't notice the boys clothes as much...but yeah, the girl sections always have the cutest stuff. My favorite places to buy clothes for Marloe are of course Target, this cute ETSY shop, Gap, and Nordstrom Rack!

3-DANCE!
Okay, this one excites me so much! I reallllly hope Marloe wants to dance. I danced all growing up, and I would love if she chose to dance too. Ballet shoes, ballet tights, leotards..... are the cutest thing on a little baby girl! If she chooses sports instead, she will still be the cutest little athlete ever!

4-BEING BEST FRIENDS!
Girls and their mamas, nothing better! There is nothing like a bond between a mom and daughter. I hope she grows up strong and confident, and can tell me anything and everything. I will help her get ready for dances, give her dating advice, and be a shoulder to cry on.

Morning Routine with my Loves

Ciera Dastrup

Our days over here are not on a set schedule whatsoever. Being a working mom, means deadlines, sporadic photoshoots, and many events. Marloe actually does really well at going with the flow and napping on the go!

Although our days aren't routine, our mornings are. Mornings are my favorite time of day. I know I have said it before....but I love mornings. I wake up, and literally jump out of bed with motivation to take the day on. I thought I would share what our mornings look like around here :)

Marloe usually wakes up at the same time as Colten and I. Since we co-sleep, she wakes up when we start getting out of bed. This is usually around 7 am. We all snuggle in bed for a little bit before I pick her up and we head to her room to change her diaper, and out of her pjs. She is always so happy in the mornings too, and is constantly pointing at stuff going "oooh" in excitement. I change immediately after into gym clothes. I feel like I am way motivated to workout if I have my athletic clothing on. Colten also gets in his workout gear, and gets ready to head to the gym! I put Marloe in her high chair, and turn on music or cartoons for her while she eats breakfast. Her favorite breakfasts lately are:
Yogurt & fruit
Whole wheat French toast & fruit
Eggs with lots of cheese & fruit
I make my breakfast too, which is usually oatmeal & fruit or yogurt & fruit! Colten has headed out the door to the gym by this time, and it's just Marloe and I eating our breakfast!

When Colten gets home from the gym, he gets ready for work! Ps. If you wanna know what my husband does for a living, visit this site. :) Anyway, he showers up, touches up his beard, and gets dressed for work! Shaving is a part of his daily routine, and has been for a while.

Colten usually always has a beard, and I love it! I am a huge fan of his facial hair, and think he looks so good with stubble or even a big beard. We recently teamed up with The Remington Beard Boss Perfecter Stubble and Detail Kit to try on my husbands facial hair! He is super picky when it comes to shavers, and I was really hoping that he would love this one. Proud to say, he has used it every day for the past three weeks! He loves how its premium T-Blade provides ultra close trimming and pinpoint precision and control for perfect stubble and crisp, clean edges. He can create his signature look using the Remington Beard Boss shaver. It is available at Walmart and on Walmart.com so if you have a man who shaves (almost every man haha), this could be a great gift for him!!

Some cool things about it:

Its 100% waterproof!-SOOO COOL.

Precision Metal Comb – adjustable metal comb locks in the exact length for a perfectly groomed beard, plus five snap on combs

Foil Shaver – Cleans up along the neck, jawline and facial hair styles

Turbo Mode – Power boost for thick beards and fast trimming

My husband is a major fan, and I am a major fan of his perfectly trimmed beard! Head to your local Walmart and on Walmart.com to pick up your own.

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group®  & Remington  but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #RemBeardBoss

Baby Gear - The First Year

Ciera Dastrup

When you first have a baby, you are so unsure of what you REALLY need. You get bombarded by workers in department stores telling you what is new and trending in the Baby Department. It can be so overwhelming. I went through this exact situation. I scrolled endlessly through Pinterest trying to locate the TOP baby items. But really, I should have just asked real everyday moms, because then I would have gotten much more clear answers.

I truly think that when it comes to baby gear, you JUST need a few things. A good stroller, like this one pictured from Graco. The car seat connects easily to the stroller, and makes life so much easier. I swear by a good stroller, and think every mama should invest in an awesome good quality one. They get beat up so fast, so going the cheap route isn't a good option. Also, get the best quality car seat too! I recommend buying a dark grey or black car seat like this one from Maxi Cosi. It's no surprise that babies are super messy, so a darker carseat will help to hide stains!

Active Mama's, everyone needs to get a separate Jogger stroller. These strollers, are the best for running or off road walks with your baby. My Bob Jogger, was the best investment, and helped me to get back into running and out of the house! I know there are some cheaper brands, but the BoB jogger is one of the best quality baby joggers!

A couple things that you DON'T 'need' to buy, are any sort of bouncy/walker thing. These are awesome, don't get me wrong. But your baby will use it for maybe a month, and they just take up so much space in your house! I promise you, your baby would be happy with a box and some spatulas lol! I don't think they are completely unnecessary, but they are definitely not absolutely needed! If you do end up getting a bouncer/jogger get ONE, not ten different kinds. I promise you will go crazy trying to find places to put them after your baby stops using them.

I do feel like many of the items I bought were pretty worthless, or only used a few times. Babies are so unpredictable, so before you buy a million things for you baby....see what they like first, and maybe try it out at the store/friends house. Also, your baby will get sick of their toys fast, so try to trade toys out every once in a while to keep them interested.

I rounded up some baby gear favorites, would love to hear what YOU recommend!

Anthropologie + Lover Boy

Ciera Dastrup

A few months back I teamed up with an awesome group here in Albuquerque, to showcase Anthropologies new Bridal line! We shot some pretty boho/desert wedding photos just down the street from my house! It was so fun working with these creative souls, and I loved getting a chance to shoot some photos with Colten....Even though he HATES shooting photos, he always appreciates the photos afterwards! I tagged the creative team behind this shoot below, and linked our looks.
